The Super Bowl is one of those things many care about and everybody else tries to force themselves to care because so many care about.
Being located in the Centennial State at this point in time, I can tell you for the past month I couldn't walk anywhere without seeing someone wear that damn orange horse, so obviously it affects people like me who don't care one way or the other.
Frankly I just don't get enthusiasm for sports. As I see it, its the same fallacy as religion, it's often a by-product of one's birth than something one actually choses, therefore, makes the excitement many express feel phony and trite. Being a California boy, I care about the Dodgers, Lakers and UCLA, but I freely admit that had circumstances been different and I was born somewhere else, that possibly wouldn't be the case.
I will be forcing myself to watch it this year. Not because I care about this wretched state's team or anything like that, but rather to watch the commercials. I actually have a homework assignment to watch the commercials and list my 5 favorites and 1 least favorite. I might blog those, I might not. Frankly, those that say "I only watch for the commercials" are almost as perplexing as those that watch it for the game themselves. We spend most of our lives to zone out commercials, why should companies putting millions of dollars towards them make it any different? Beside, unless one of Elon Musk's companies has a commercial I'm unaware of, its a guarantee none of the commercial will be as important or influential as Apple's 1984 commercial.
But hey, Bob Dylan has two commercial this year. Bob Dylan is always worth paying attention to!
